Sexually Transmitted Infections

The Facts
215 under 25 year olds in Glasgow have been diagnosed with HIV (2003)
Chlamydia – in 2003, 3113 cases were diagnosed in Glasgow. Two thirds were under the age of 25.
The number of reported cases in Scotland has risen by nearly 400% in the past 10 years
825 of Gonorrhoea cases were diagnosed in Scotland in 2003, 249 in Glasgow

There are other infections you can catch from having sex too, like warts, herpes, and hepatitis.

You can’t always tell if you or your partner has a sexual infection as neither of you might have any symptoms. The problem with that is the infection may cause damage if it is not detected and treated with antibiotics. It also means the infection can be spread to future partners without you knowing.

Use a CONDOM everytime , so UR not one of the statistics above.

Come in & see us at the YHS, if you think you’ve been at risk - U can drop in any Thursday evening without an appointment.

Alternatively, you can visit the family planning clinic at Maryhill Health Centre on Mondays 1.30pm-3.30pm or phone the Sandyford Initiative on 0141 211 8130.
